Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
We got to meet Melita Corinne Chunn for the first time today. Well, look at her rather than look at Baby Chunn or him. I can admit that we were so sure we were having a boy we kept using the pronouns he and him. What a shock to see girl parts in place of boy parts that we were positive existed. We are really excited without a spot of disappointment. I do think that raising a boy would be easier: no periods or bras or dating to worry about. But the idea of raising an independent woman makes me smile. Plus, I love, love, love the name Melita. Not only is it my middle name, but also my dad's little sister who passed away in 1969. And besides being slapped all over boxes of coffee filters, I don't know a single other Melita.

The Sweet Smell of Progress
After the deer episode, things in the world of Bungy have been relatively calm. We went hiking in Panther Canyon this afternoon and it was nice enough the whole weekend that we were able to leave the back door open during the day so Bungy could come and go as he pleased. I think we achieved happy dog this weekend.
While Bungy was outside protecting the backyard from the deer, Reagan and I were finally able to finish the walls in the nursery. We will probably still end up hanging some prints and whatnot and I definitely plan to hang a shelf of some sort to put all of the kinder toys on. But getting the decals on the wall was a BIG accomplishment.

Hopefully, Baby Chunn will enjoy the robots and elephants and giraffes as much as Reagan and I do. Our goal is to make the nursery as gender neutral as possible. I know once we find out the sex we will start accumulating certain types of things, but for the most part I want a boy or a girl to feel at home in the room. I think it will make for a more well rounded person :)
We also put decals on one of the walls in the guest room/game room.

All in all an eventful weekend for us. Next weekend we are off to Ikea to check out the different linens they have for the crib. From what I saw on their website, I think I just might find what I am looking for.
I am also glad to read that I am not the only expectant woman with killer breath. Thanks, ladies!

The Deer Hunter
On Wednesday night, Bungy chased and successfully caught a deer. To make a long (and dramatic) story short, when Reagan and Bungy arrived home from their nightly ride, there were several deer camped out in the back yard. One of the deer was smaller/weaker (we don't think it was a baby) and tried to jump over the fence with his friends but just couldn't make it. Bungy chased him around the yard and out the back gate and up the street and somewhere/somehow in all of this was able to bite the deer on the neck? I was not present as I was warm and snuggly on the couch and Reagan was running after them and didn't really see the details, but when both dog and boy returned home, the dog was covered in blood and it wasn't his own. I think we can safely say Bungy 1 Deer 0.
In Baby Chunn news, it appears I am cooking a future member of Cirque du Soleil. This kid is an acrobat! And up until tonight, I had been the only one to experience it. Finally tonight, just now, Reagan felt the little tyke beat up his moms belly. Maybe now I'll get a little sympathy from him ;)
Here's a question for all of my baby momma friends: when you were pregnant did you experience worse breath than when you were without child? My breath has been horrendous in ways I never knew it could be. Seriously. My diet hasn't changed since I have been pregnant other than a major decrease in the booze intake. But I am not eating any strange foods. Ugh. I feel sorry for the people who have to smell my breath.
I made great headway on the nursery on Monday and hope to finish this weekend. When that happens I will post a picture. Until then...

Here Comes the Sun
After a few days of freezing weather accompanied by drizzle and clouds, the sun is finally shining today and Bungy just might get a hike in the park!
I did finally receive the letter from the doctor concerning the results of my 'quad screen'. Everything is fantastic in my belly and Baby Chunn is perfect. There was a bit of a celebration last Saturday after I got the letter in the mail, and I met some friends out at the local bar and didn't get home until after 11:30! This is monumental in itself as I am always in bed between 9 - 9:30. I had so much fun even though I had to watch everyone enjoy shots while I cheered with my glass of wine. But it was nice to be out and talk about more than just baby goingson and hear some local gossip. I also got quite a laugh watching everyone get progressively drunker while I stayed sober. A very different view from a few months before.
This weekend we will finally put the decals on the walls in the nursery. This is a HUGE milestone as it will give the room some character and help us to start picking out other things.
And really that's it for this weekend. No new pictures as Reagan has taken the camera to work and forgotten to bring it home (surprise, surprise). I really am intending to take a belly shot because I am still freaked out there is a baby in there :)
PS Obviously our heater has gotten fixed since I am not whining about being cold on this blog. It's nice to live in a toasty, warm house and not an igloo!

Smelly Dog
It's been almost a week and not much has happened. I suppose if we could see inside of my belly, we would notice that A LOT has happened, but we can't and so we are stuck with the mundane. I still haven't heard any news about the 'quad screen' I did last Friday. In my quest to be the-glass-is-half-full kind of girl, I am taking no news as good news. Right?
We did finally get the crib mattress and the decals for the walls should be here on Monday. So next week should be fairly exciting around here. We also got a lounge/day bed for the front room of the house. It still needs some throw pillows to punch it up, but at least it doesn't look like an empty room any more. We're going shopping today in search of unique finds, so hopefully we'll be successful.
We went through a rather rough patch with Bungy where he would pass the smelliest gas while laying comfortably in the same room with Reagan and I. Seriously, the smell could peel paint off the wall. I have been tweaking his diet to see if I can cut the smell in half and so far the smell is just as bad but not as often. That counts for something, right? I do think it is rather funny that Reagan and I would have picked the dog with the smelliest ass to adopt, though. Let's just hope we haven't done the same thing with Baby Chunn!
I need to get new batteries for the camera and then we can start updating with current pictures of the growth progress of the belly and the house.

Back to Normal
Since everything has returned back to normal, not much else has been going on. Still working on getting the house sorted. Constantly looking for unique things to add to our decor. The nursery is on hold until we find out if I am cooking a boy or a girl, and until the crib mattress and the decals for the walls arrive.
Reagan and I also made the decision last night to take Baby Chunn to Europe next summer/fall for the big introduction to some of our favorite places and people. It's definitely something to look forward to!
The last bit of news is that on Friday I had the 'quad screen' done. And although I am not in the high risk category, I am still on pins and needles waiting for the results. We should know this week. A phone call is bad, but a letter in the mail is good. Keep your fingers crossed for a letter!

Happy New Year
2008 has already started with a (expensive) bang: we made our first mortgage payment today. The next big milestone will be the arrival of Baby Chunn in approximately 5 months. Another goal I have is to be debt free before the arrival of Baby Chunn. However, I am being realistic with this goal and will not be upset if 'debt free' actually ends up being only 75% debt free.
I hope all of you enjoyed yourselves last night. Although it was a bit of a struggle, I did stay awake until midnight to ring in the New Year and to give my baby daddy a big kiss. You know they say that the first person you kiss at midnight on New Years is the person you end up kissing for the rest of the year.
