Where has the last week gone? Once Melita's harness came off, it feels like we have just been going non stop. One major event that has left me with very little free time is that my first day back at work was on Monday, July 28. I enjoy the working part of my life and am glad to have it back. I think it not only fulfills me personally, but also makes me a better mother. Life is good in Kateeland.

Goodbye to You
We went to Methodist Children's Hospital yesterday and the ultrasound revealed that the harness did its job and there is no longer a dislocation in Melita's hip. Words cannot explain how excited this made us.
YAY!

Overweight
Reagan brought home a Wii Fit today. I am officially overweight despite being 1 lb. from my pre-pregnancy weight. Obviously, the Wii Fit does not care that I gave birth a mere 6 weeks ago. My BMI is 29. That is terrible. My goal is to lose 22 lbs. in 2 months. We'll see...

Let's Get Physical
I have been on the hunt for a Wii Fit for the last couple of months. Even more so now that Reagan went to the doctor and was told he should lose about 15 lbs. I want to fully support him in his weight loss endeavor, and after seeing how Dave & Bethany have a little friendly Wii Fit Age competition that they chronicle on their blog, I thought Reagan and I could do that too. Especially now after my post-partum check-up today. I am 2.5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Not too shabby especially since it has only been 6 weeks. But I needed to lose about 15 lbs before I got pregnant. Let the games begin.

2018.8 miles
That's what we drove over the last 4 days. With a 5 (almost 6) week old. We survived. Barely.
Actually, I'm exaggerating. Melita did awesome, and Reagan and I only thought about getting a divorce once. We drove that far because two of our really good friends, Dave and Cherie, who we met in Germany but who now live in Texas got married over the weekend in Colorado Springs. We wouldn't have missed it for the world.
We had a great time, but I don't think I will be rushing to plan any more road trips with a newborn. Also, it is pretty difficult hanging with your friends like old times when you are the only parents in the bunch. At one point when Melita was fussing because she was hungry and/or wet, and I was looking for Reagan who had the diaper bag, a friend told me to just have another glass of wine and stopping stressing about it. Seriously. I have/had no comment.
In her short life, Melita has so far been to New Mexico, Colorado, and Iraan*. Not as worldly as Isla B. or Violet G. but we're working on it!
*Iraan, TX is the birthplace of the Alley Oop comic strip and home of Alley Oop's Fantasy Land. Texas has got some strange points of interest.

Happy Birthday Flo

Scared-y Dog
Happy Belated 4th! Our house is very near the park where the fireworks are launched from and we had a sneaky suspicion that we wouldn't have to go very far to see them. We were really excited because it would be Melita's first 4th and our first one back in the U.S. since 2000! What we hadn't bargained for was opening our front door and seeing the fireworks. Seriously, we were able to sit on our front porch and get a perfect and private front row show.
Incidentally, Melita slept through the entire show despite the fact that our house actually shook with every boom. Bungy on the other hand was wide awake and scared. He would run outside, hear a boom, turn around and run back inside only to hear another boom and try to go back outside and upon discovering that he could not escape the loud noises he took off running down the street. I think Reagan found him nearly three streets over from ours.
Also, will Melita ever forgive us for all of the impromptu photo shoots that she was too young to protest?
On Thursday, Melita went back to the hip doctor. He said that her hip was doing awesome and he couldn't feel the hip clicking out of place at all. We'll have an ultrasound of her hip done next week (the 6 week mark) and if the results confirm that the hip is in place, then she will only have to wear the harness at night and then eventually she can stop wearing it all together. Yay!
