A Few of My Favorite Things

I wish I had a picture of Bungy right now sleeping next to me with one of his paws resting in my lap.

The giant cactus in our yard is slowly blooming. Something about something so prickly producing something so pretty.

Our friend Amanda made this pig for Melita. It might just be the cutest pig I have ever seen.

This is Reagan's solution to a mobile for Melita's room. It's above her crib, attached to the ceiling and lights up and rotates.

The 'M' that Bethany included with her shower package. We couldn't have chosen a better way to identify Melita's room!

Melita's Loot

This is the Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair. Not only is it stylish and modern but it can hold up to 300 lbs! We also like it because it pulls right up to the table so that Melita will be able to really share in family meal time without the traditional highchair tray acting as a barricade.

This is the bookshelf with pull out storage bins that we decided to buy. The pull out cloth bins seem a lot safer for little fingers than traditional drawers. On top are the Word World animals. I discovered these in Target while shopping for a friend's 1 year old birthday. They are a clever way to teach children words and animals. Their bodies are made of magnetic letters that come apart and fit back together. Too cute!

Featured here is the fantastic swaddling blanket that Bethany made for Melita. The minute we saw it, Reagan and I knew this would be Melita's favorite blanket and hopefully one she keeps forever. It has been washed in Dreft and is ready to keep her snuggly and warm.

This is the activity mat I bought her yesterday. Just looking at it promises hours and hours of fun! The only thing missing in all of these pictures is Melita. We can't wait to meet her.

Guadalupe State Park

Last Sunday, we went to Guadalupe State Park. It was a gorgeous day and the park is not too far away--just 45 minutes up Hwy 46 from us.

And despite falling out of the truck again, Bungy swam and played and shared in our BBQ with us. It was so inspiring and relaxing that we bought a years pass to get in to all the state parks in Texas. Stay tuned for the Chunn's Texas State Park Tour 2008/2009.

Procreation Celebration

Last weekend, instead of having a baby shower, we hosted a Procreation Celebration. I didn't want to have some overly girly party with kool-aid and games, but instead wanted to really celebrate baby making in all of its glory. Plus, we hadn't yet had a party to break in the new backyard and you can't properly enjoy a shady backyard without some beer and some men folk. In keeping with the idea of avoiding a baby shower and likely scaring off all of the men that came, we didn't open any presents until the following day. We got some awesome stuff, and nothing that was too girly. Once Melita's room is a bit more put together I'll post pictures of her loot.

Silence

It has been fairly quiet in the Chunn house as of late. In fact I can hear the crickets chirping as I type this. I am embracing the quiet in preparation for the new not-so-quiet addition. I am still having a hard time grasping the fact that very soon there will be a live baby living in my house who I will have to take care of. My early morning Sundays of Solitude are over. Now, Melita could surprise us all by having her mother's grace, charm, and wit and her father's ability to sleep 12 hours straight even when there are minor natural disasters occurring. However, I am human and am preparing for the worst. I think I am officially in denial.
