J'attends...

Sadly, I kept my doctor's appointment today. To be honest, although I knew I had been having some productive contractions, I knew that there was no way I was dilated to a 6 or 7. In fact, I am dilated to an easy 3cm - just about 4cm. That's about 1cm a week if you have been keeping track. Productive, yes. Enough to produce a baby, no.

My doctor stretched me again and actually poked Melita's head hard enough to push her back up into my abdomen. The theory being that it will make her move down into the birth canal further. That was a freaky feeling. Now, I am scheduled to be induced on June 3 unless Melita makes her appearance sooner. So, worse case scenario is I welcome Melita on June 3. I'm hoping she decides to come sooner, but what do I know? I've been hoping she would be here since May 18!

Anyway, Reagan and I are doing fine. Understandably a little anxious. Being induced takes all the surprise away, but also leaves you with more time to prepare AND freak out. I've been cramping/contracting like crazy since my appointment so I can only hope it means things are progressing on their own. My doctor mentioned that since we scheduled the appointment to be induced, Murphy's law says that I will go into labor all on my own. We'll see...

As someone who was induced, I can tell you that it isn't that bad. While it does give you more time to freak out, the time is going to fly by. For reals. You're going to do great either way!

I was induced too and survived. Good news is you are well on your way to being fully dilated so that will make the induction (if you get that far) even quicker!

Keep smiling and thank your lucky stars you still don't have two weeks left to go.

Thanks girls! Seriously I am doing OK. I'm officially on maternity leave now as there is no reason to go back to work for one day, so that is really exciting. I'll be in touch with both of you on Tuesday to let you know what's going on.
