Ouch!

Melita still isn't here. I had a regularly scheduled doctor's appointment yesterday where I knew there would be some cervix checking. I just didn't know that my doctor would comment that I had an interesting cervix whilst stretching it. Have you ever had your cervix stretched? I highly recommend it. Psych! (I'm trying out Bethany's new suggestion.) Anyway, I don't have any testicles, but I liken it to a man having a testicle squeezed inside of a vice. Reagan doesn't completely agree, but seeing how he will never experience having his cervix stretched AND he is not lining up anywhere to have one of his testicles squeezed in a vice, I think I win this one.

Officially, my outer cervix is at around 5cm and my inner cervix is at 2cm. There was some progress during the week, as last week my outer cervix was at 2cm and my inner cervix had just started thinning. The poking and prodding from last week resulted in the loss of my mucus plug. TMI, I know. My doctor explained that the pain I was feeling from the stretching was equal to that of the pain of labor. My response to that is that at least with labor there are drugs involved. We are not looking forward to labor.

A day after the stretching I am feeling more contractions (although still not in any sort of pattern) and my lower back has a continual burning/pain sensation. My doctor proclaimed after the stretching that I would probably see some action this weekend. Maybe this is the beginning of that action? I plan to stay busy through the long weekend and try not to think about the fact that I am pregnant.

Anyway, the last thing my doctor said before we left her office was that she could feel Melita's head. And to me, that's just a little creepy. My next appointment is scheduled for May 30. Let's hope I don't make it :)
